Invite Your Team
Add team members to your organization and manage access to boards
Spedy is built for collaboration. Once your workspace and first board are ready, the next step is to bring in your team so everyone can contribute, track progress, and stay aligned.
How to Invite Members
To invite someone to your organization, go to your organization settings and find the team or members section. From there, you can invite new members by entering their email address. They will receive an invitation to join your workspace.
When the invited person accepts, they become a member of your organization and can access the workspace at your subdomain (for example, your-company.spedy.ai).
Understanding Roles
Every member in your organization has one of three roles. Each role determines what they can see and do across the workspace.
Admin
Admins have full access to everything in the organization. They can:
- View and manage all boards, regardless of team assignments.
- Invite and remove members.
- Change organization settings, including billing and integrations.
- Create and manage teams.
- Access all tickets, wiki pages, and settings.
The person who creates the organization is automatically the first Admin. You should have at least one Admin, but you can assign the role to multiple people.
Team Member
Team Members are your day-to-day collaborators -- developers, designers, project managers, and other internal team members. They can:
- Access boards that their team is assigned to.
- Create and manage tickets on those boards.
- Contribute to the wiki and participate in discussions.
Team Members see only the boards that are relevant to their work, keeping their workspace focused and uncluttered.
Customer
Customers are external users such as clients, stakeholders, or partners who need visibility into specific projects. They can:
- Access only the boards they have been explicitly added to as a board member.
- View tickets and leave comments on those boards.
- Stay informed about project progress without seeing internal work.
This role is ideal for giving clients a window into their project without exposing your entire workspace.
How Board Access Works
Understanding how board access works helps you set up the right permissions for your team:
| Role | What they can see |
|---|---|
| Admin | All boards in the organization, automatically |
| Team Member | Boards where their team has been assigned |
| Customer | Only boards where they have been explicitly added |
Teams and Board Assignments
To give Team Members access to a board, you assign their team to that board. This means:
- Create a team (for example, "Engineering" or "Design") in your organization settings.
- Add members to the team.
- Assign the team to one or more boards.
Everyone on that team will then be able to see and work on those boards. If a member belongs to multiple teams, they will see all boards assigned to any of their teams.
Individual Board Access
For Customers or anyone who needs access to a specific board without being part of a team, you can add them directly as a board member. Board members can be given one of three access levels:
- Board Admin -- Full control over the board, including settings and member management.
- Board Member -- Can create and manage tickets on the board.
- Board Viewer -- Read-only access to see tickets and progress.
Tips for Setting Up Your Team
- Start with one team. You can always create more teams later as your organization grows.
- Use the Customer role for external stakeholders. It gives them just enough access to stay informed without cluttering their view.
- Assign board access through teams when possible. It is easier to manage than adding individuals one by one.
- Keep at least two Admins. This ensures someone always has full access if one Admin is unavailable.
