Timeline
Plan visually with the interactive Gantt timeline -- schedule, move, and group tickets on a time axis.
The Timeline shows scheduled tickets as horizontal bars on a time axis. See at a glance how work spreads over weeks and months, and adjust dates directly on the chart.
Access
Click Timeline in the sidebar. Requirements:
- The Timeline view feature is enabled in org settings under Features.
- You have the
timeline:viewpermission.
Layout
- Left column: Ticket title and assignee per row.
- Right area: Time axis with bars. A vertical today line marks the current day; milestones appear as additional vertical lines.
Zoom
Choose between three zoom levels in the top-right corner:
- Day -- daily resolution for short-term planning.
- Week (default) -- weekly view for everyday work.
- Month -- monthly view for the big picture.
Grouping
Choose at the top:
- By Epic (default) -- tickets are grouped under their parent epic. Tickets without an epic land in their own group.
- By Board -- tickets are grouped by board.
Filters
Narrow the view with:
- Boards -- show tickets from specific boards only.
- Statuses -- filter by status.
- Assignees -- filter by assigned person (including "Unassigned").
Scheduling unplanned tickets
Tickets without a due date appear in a horizontal strip above the chart, grouped by status.
- Drag and drop: Drag an unplanned ticket onto the time axis. Spedy sets the start date to the drop position and the due date automatically 3 days later.
- Search: Use the search field in the strip to filter by title, ticket ID, board, or assignee.
- Resync: The resync button resets the order to the server sort (newest first).
Adjusting dates
Planned bars can be adjusted directly on the chart:
- Drag the right edge → change the due date.
- Drag the left edge → change the start date.
- Drag the centre → shift the entire range (start and due date move together).
The minimum duration is 1 day. While dragging, Spedy shows a preview of the new dates. The change is only saved when you release.
Bar appearance
- Planned (solid bar) -- tickets with an explicit due date.
- Estimated (dashed bar) -- tickets in "In Progress" status without a due date. Automatically become planned bars once you set a date.
- Overdue / Blocked -- red tinted.
- Due soon (within 3 days) -- amber tinted.
- Done -- neutral bar with a darker completion overlay.
Live updates
Changes from teammates appear in real time by default. Use the Live updates toggle in the filters to pause automatic refreshes. Incoming changes are then counted as a badge, and you can load them manually with a click.
Tips
- Use the Epic grouping to track the progress of a larger initiative over time.
- Schedule unplanned tickets via drag and drop instead of opening each one individually.
- Pause live updates when you want to replan without the chart shifting under you.
